Our Completed Project
With a combination of 3.2 MW in total output, the LKR 350 million turnover Eastwest Solar(Pvt.) Ltd has partnered and serviced over 225 projects to-date. Together with its committed staff and innovative solutions, the company envisions serving an ever-growing number of Sri Lankans, as the country slowly moves towards renewable energy.
Sri Lanka is rich in renewable resources that can be utilized for power generation. The Battle for Energy (Soorya Bala Sangramaya) project, for example, which was unveiled in 2016, expected to add 200MW to the national grid by 2020, and a 1000MW by 2025, through the installation of small-scale rooftop solar panels on hotels, commercial establishments, households and religious places. This was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy (MPRE), the SLSEA, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company (LEC). The programme accommodates three options for consumers to generate and use electricity in their households: net metering, net accounting and net plus.
Another scheme introduced as an additional element to the above project is when a tariff was implemented for net energy export. When using the solar panels fixed on the roof, a customer will be paid LKR 22.00 per unit if the generated units of electricity are more than the units consumed. For the first 7 years, the applicable rate per unit is LKR 22.00, and revised downwards to LKR 15.50 from year 8- 20. Wherever consumption is higher than the energy generated from the solar panels, the consumer has to pay the CEB at the existing electricity tariff for the excess energy consumed.
